the foodscaper cohort program

April - September 2026

Foodscaping can be a lonely profession.

Most of us are figuring this out as we go, piecing together advice from landscapers, farmers, designers, and business books that were never written for this work.

And sometimes you just wish you could sit down once a month with people who actually get it.

You’re not looking for another course, PDF or webinar.

You’re looking for relationships!

here's how it works

In 2026, Matt Lebon, expert edible landscaping entrepreneur, is offering small, intimate cohorts for foodscapers.

These are online Zoom calls for edible landscaping professionals who will meet regularly this year with people at their same stage of business

Not to be taught at…

But to learn alongside each other.

this is about finding your foodscaper family

Connect with the people you can authentically check in with about your professional life.

The kind of group where you can say...

  • “Here’s what I’m charging — is this crazy?”
  • “Here’s a client situation — what would you do?”
  • “Here’s how I’m sourcing plants and it’s taking me forever — anyone have a better way?”

It's the kind of community where everyone understands the weird, wonderful, messy world of turning edible landscaping into a real livelihood.

words of PRAISE

The biggest aha moments was learning how to go about how to understand what people are willing to pay for a project. I learned how to ask upfront and see a reaction, and adjust from there. That was huge.”

Allan, former student

"The work the folks at The Foodscaper have done - whether with the conference, the podcast, or the online community - to bring together expert voices in this industry is the biggest reason I felt ready to launch my new foodscaping business this year. Thank you!"

- Dan, Edible Abundance Foodscapes

" Radical transparency! Psychological safety. We could ask all the questions we are usually too embarrassed to and no speaker made us feel ignorant or amateur."

- Anna, pro foodscaper

“The companionship, practical business advice, and garden problem-solving was so beneficial for my young business.

It was like laying compost, so worth the investment.”

Peter Van Nuland, Former student
Owner, New Story Landscapes

During the cohort we’ll cover the following...

BUT this cohort is not watching a class or presesntaion!

This will be an active group conversation on:

  • pricing & proposals
  • finding clients
  • hiring & team building
  • plant sourcing & installs
  • mistakes we’re making in real time
  • and the questions you didn’t even know how to ask yet

“This investment in my education opened up my life to peers who helped me build my business."

- Dujon Blondel, Owner, Green Glow Gardens

“If we expect substantive food system change, this is the community that’s going to do it.”

- Chris Grallert, CEO, Green City Growers

"I began my first season in business on the right foot with realistic expectations and am happy to share that I now have a steadily growing client list."

- Mike Bielesch, Seed & Soil Ecological Landscape Services

Katie went from from a curious green thumb to a successful business owner.

"I started working with Matt after learning about his company and programs at the 2021 Foodscaper Summit. I was about a year into starting up my foodscaping company, and was feeling totally lost and overwhelmed. I am now heading into year 5 running and managing it full time as the owner and founder (with a more-than living wage to boot!), managing several employees, and working with hundreds of clients annually.

Matt and his coaching program have been instrumental in my success: because of his guides, presentations, and one-on-one mentoring, I was able to level-up my ideas, installations, design skills, and all of the other skills it takes to manage an edible landscaping business.

The best part of this program is that you’re working with a mentor that is incredibly caring, available to you, thoughtful, and who clearly has his heart in this work. If you’re starting out in your edible landscaping company and looking to gain confidence, hone your skills, and feel supported by someone who cares deeply and has been in your exact shoes, working with Matt and in the Foodscaping Entrepreneurship School is where it’s at!"

KATIE CAREY, OWNER, COLUMBUS FOODSCAPES

"Before, I felt very disorganized. I didn’t have any documentation or contracts. I feel more structured as a business so there’s a lot of good information. Organization is my biggest takeaway."

BEN, OWNER, PERMANENT YIELD DESIGN

"What was most valuable: The transparency in the day-to-day operation of the business especially the intake to project installation pipeline and how to navigate HR."

"Matt and his team are supportive, inspiring, and creative problem-solvers.

People who were entirely new to foodcaping (like me) were welcomed along with business owners who have been landscaping, designing, and gardening for years.

There was so much detailed, honest, and reflective information available in this program. I think I could take it again every year and continuously benefit from the practical advice, suggestions for setting up procedures and systems, connections with fellow participants, and perspectives shared from across the world."

Courtney, former student

 Let's build our businesses, TOGETHER!

I created The Foodscaper because I craved connection with other edible landscapers as I built Custom Foodscapes.

I'm proud that last year's revenue topped $800K and over 100K in net profit.

Now, I want to return the wisdom I learned along the way to help foodscapers thrive.
