Using Google Earth to Quickly Gather Site Data for Design Projects

Bill Wilson, Co- Founder, Midwest Permaculture

This workshop demonstrates how to tweak Google Earth Pro to provide the most basic site data that is so useful to understand and evaluate a piece of property.

We walk through the steps we take each time we design a home, homestead or small farm and will leave students with a clear path to be able to duplicate this process.

We find elevations, soil types, native plants to those soils, watershed maps, measuring roofs-yards-fields-ponds in square feet or acres, and calculating distances/lengths. We can also visit multiple satellite images of most properties over the last 30 years.

We'll also show how we gather the sun, wind and climate data we need.
